The Midstates ARLIS/NA Chapter Fall 2019 meeting will be held at the historic Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan on Friday, October 4. Optional DIY tour ideas for Saturday include the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. We have an exciting schedule of presentations and tours planned!

Registration and payment will take two steps: make your payment using the Pay Now link and register using the Google Form. Note that there is a $20 fee for the meeting; the afternoon tour, facilitated by the Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research, will cost $30. You may register for just the meeting or both meeting and tour. *Students: you do not need to pay the $20 fee for the meeting.

There will be a lecture by Claire Bishop in the deSalle Auditorium in the Cranbrook Art Museum from 6:00-7:30 in the evening. Details will be posted here.
The Cranbrook Institute of Science (a short walk from the Art Museum), is open until 10:00 pm on Fridays. Admission after 5:00 pm is free on the first Friday of each month (underwritten by MASCO Corporation Foundation). All of the galleries will be open, plus there is a small, state-of-the-art planetarium. Shows are $5.00 each and last about 45 minutes. Normally there are four shows on Friday evenings: 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm. and 9:00 pm. The observatory is open 8:30-10:00 pm on Friday evenings, weather permitting.
Saturday, Oct. 5

Saturday will be a “Day in Detroit”. Indicate your interests for what you would like to do on the registration form and we will facilitate informal group tours or visits of Detroit sights, such as the DIA, MOCAD, Riverfront Walk and Eastern Market, Detroit Walking Tour, Public Art (e.g., Heidelberg Project, Street Art, Belle Isle, etc.). We’ll meet for breakfast in downtown Detroit (location TBA) and go from there.
